Nashville Mental Health Disorders Treatment
In 2021, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) estimated that 937,000 people in Tennessee had a mental health condition.
At BrightQuest Nashville, we provide world-class care to people with moderate to severe mental health conditions. We are prepared to handle even the most persistent cases of intense and chronic conditions like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and drug-induced psychosis.
Below we have included conditions we treat and brief descriptions.
Thought Disorders
A thought disorder is a condition that impacts a person’s ability to think and communicate. People living with thought disorders can lose touch with reality. BrightQuest provides the right combination of medication, therapy, and life skills training so people living with these conditions can manage their symptoms and live fulfilling lives.
- Schizophrenia
This is a serious brain disorder that affects less than 1% of the population. Symptoms of schizophrenia include hallucinations, delusions, and psychosis. Schizophrenia does not have a cure, but we help clients manage the condition and live healthy lives at our inpatient facility in Nashville.
- Prodromal Schizophrenia
A precursor to schizophrenia, prodromal schizophrenia is the condition in its earliest stages. Symptoms usually occur intermittently during this phase. It may take months or years before symptoms become more consistent.
- Schizoaffective Disorder
Clients with schizoaffective disorder experience delusions, hallucinations, and psychotic features associated with schizophrenia, alongside symptoms of a mood disorder, like depression or bipolar.
- Delusional Disorder
When adults manage a delusional disorder, they hold untrue beliefs. For example, they may believe they are being followed or spied on. They do not experience other psychotic symptoms associated with schizophrenia.
Mood Disorders
This umbrella term refers to a variety of conditions that primarily affect a person’s emotional state. Mood disorders can have a serious impact on a person’s mental well-being and are very treatable with the right combination of medication and therapies available at BrightQuest Nashville.
- Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar disorder is characterized by extreme emotional highs and lows, known as mania and depression. An individual in a manic state might be highly excitable, speak very fast, or have very high energy levels. During depressive episodes, they may be too tired to move, have difficulty getting out of bed, or experience persistent feelings of emptiness. Bipolar is not curable but can be managed through medication and therapy.
- Major Depression
Major depressive disorder (MDD) is one of the most common mental health conditions in the U.S. It is characterized by symptoms like feelings of worthlessness, lack of interest in hobbies, or a lack of energy that lasts for at least two weeks. MDD is very treatable by utilizing tools at BrightQuest Nashville, including cognitive behavioral therapy, social skills training, and medication.
Personality Disorders
These conditions impact how a person behaves and relates to themselves or others. Personality disorders do not have one clear cause but are thought to occur due to a combination of family history and environmental factors, like stress or trauma.
- Borderline Personality Disorder
An adult who is diagnosed with borderline personality disorder experiences a strong fear of abandonment, rapid changes in their sense of self, and complex relationships with others. This condition can be managed through therapy and social skill development at BrightQuest Nashville.
- Dependent Personality Disorder
In the case of dependent personality disorder, people have a chronic need to be taken care of by others, cannot handle being alone, and experience difficulty making decisions independently. This commonly results from neglect in childhood or an abusive relationship and can be improved through therapy.
- Schizoid Personality Disorder
Different from schizophrenia, people with schizoid personality disorder do not usually experience psychosis or delusions. Instead, people with this condition show little to no interest in socializing with others or are unable to do so. This is not simply shyness, but a consistent lack of motivation to socialize or be a part of society.
Anxiety Disorders
If an adult has an anxiety disorder, they experience intense worry or fear along with physical symptoms that can make it difficult to get through day-to-day life. At BrightQuest Nashville, we are committed to aiding clients in their journey to work through the causes of their anxiety using cognitive behavioral therapy and other treatment modalities.
- Generalized Anxiety
People with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) worry persistently about everyday occurrences, often over small events that others may not even consider. GAD dramatically affects a person’s ability to relax and stay calm.
- Social Anxiety
Social anxiety is characterized by excessive fear of social situations. For some people, this may be a fear of one-on-one conversation or a fear of being a part of large groups. People with social anxiety very commonly experience fear of simply thinking about talking to others, especially new people.
Drug-Induced Psychosis
When an individual experiences drug-induced psychosis, they lose touch with reality. While the symptoms can be the same as those associated with a delusional disorder or schizophrenia, these psychotic features only occur as a result of substance use. We help clients experiencing drug-induced psychosis in our inpatient treatment facilities at our Nashville location.
- Cannabis-Induced Psychosis
Marijuana is much stronger than it was thirty years ago, and we are seeing more clients experience psychotic symptoms as a result of their cannabis use. At our Nashville facility, we help clients recover from a psychotic episode and work with them to eliminate cannabis use.
- Meth-Induced Psychosis
Paranoia, delusion, and hallucinations are all common side effects of regular meth use. In some cases, these psychotic features can last even after meth is out of a person’s system. We help clients eliminate symptoms and treat co-occurring substance use disorders.
