Paul was born and raised in eastern Kentucky in a rural farming community. He attended Cumberland College in the late 1980s as a vocal performance major before leaving for Nashville to pursue a music career, where he was a performer and recording artist for over thirty years.

During the COVID pandemic, he decided to retire from music and finish school. He received his bachelor’s from Liberty University in 2023 and is currently enrolled in Liberty’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. He works under the supervision of Khamaria Wright, LMFT (TN #1721).

Paul is married with two sons and two dog-sons and is an active men’s group leader in his church as well as a member of the worship team.
