Kate Kelly, MT-BC, RYT-200
Music Therapist
Kate Kelly discovered her passion for music therapy as an adolescent, finding significant relief from life’s challenges and gaining self-understanding through songwriting. This early connection ignited her lifelong dedication to the healing power of music, inspiring her to become a founding member of Belmont University’s music therapy program, from which she graduated in 2016.
After completing her education, Kate spent five transformative years as a music therapist in inpatient mental health settings, working with adolescents, adults, and older adults. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kate took a leap of faith and established Empower Music Therapy. Her vision was clear: to address the urgent need for inclusive music therapy services in the community while creating a nurturing environment where music therapists could find fulfillment and community.
Since founding Empower four years ago, Kate has created over 15 facility partnerships, including at BrightQuest Treatment Centers, organized numerous music therapy advocacy events, and led hundreds of music therapy sessions with individuals, groups, and families in Nashville. Her clinical expertise spans the treatment of complex mental health disorders, trauma, neurodivergence, and developmental delays.
As a director, Kate devotes herself to overseeing Empower’s staff, delivering keynote speeches at local conferences and events, forging partnerships with like-minded facilities, and spearheading programming initiatives across the Southeast. Her visionary leadership continues to elevate Empower not only as a provider of therapeutic services but as a beacon of healing, innovation, and community support.
Kate believes in collaborative leadership and credits every member of the team with helping shape the meaningful work Empower provides at BrightQuest, fostering healing and growth through music for individuals and families.
